After my first trip to Bali for my honeymoon earlier this year in April 2019, I absolutely fell in love with Bali and promised myself that I would make another trip before leaving Asia at the end of the year. I actually fulfilled my promise and just a few months later in October, I booked a free ticket (courtesy of my credit card points) to Bali for a total of 10 (ten!) whole days. I planned to explore different parts of Bali, from Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, Selat, Nusa Penida, Uluwatu. For a full itinerary, see below. I spent over 2 weeks following different accounts on Instagram, searching WHICh places were the best to live in + great for photos. In this post, I will be sharing ALL the places I stayed at, hopefully it will inspire you on your next trip to Bali!
My 10 Day South-Eastern Bali Itinerary
Seminyak
In Seminyak I stayed in two locations, just because I wanted to experience both places. One was a hotel, Lloyd’s Inn – I’ve heard so much about it so I was super excited about my stay (see my review here). The other was a truly memorable, Jungleroom Bali.
Jungleroom Bali
I found JungleRoom after seeing it on two of my favourite Instagram bloggers post about it and I totally fell in love with all their rooms. It was difficult choosing which room I wanted, so I decided to spend 1 night in each room, Summer House and River View. JungleRoom is located 30 minutes away from Seminyak, in a town called Canggu, also with lots of cafes & beaches. We had three days and two nights here and we felt it was just right!
JungleRoom has seven houses to choose from; one private villa and six others within an eco resort complex; all set in the lush green jungle of Canggu. The “houses” are not just your ordinary villa, but in the shape of quaint wooden bungalows. Each house is furnished individually, and all exude an atmosphere of total peace and harmony. You could easily spend a whole day in JungleRoom without even having to leave the resort! But if you’re looking something to do, JungleRoom provides Free Yoga classes in the morning as well as a delicious breakfast (included in your airbnb room rate!)
The first eco-complex I stayed at was Summer House which was this huge wooden house right by the pool in JungleRoom. Upon arrival we were greeted by a staff member who offered to help us with luggage and bringing it to the room. They provided us with a welcome drink, 2 huge coconuts which was amazing. They gave us a small tour of the place and left us to slowly explore. In Summer House, there is a huge room, a daybed in the same room, a ladder and swing which was amazing. Mosquito nets are provided for both beds which proved very useful at night. There is a separate washroom which is partly connected to outside just through the top, which helps with the smell. Also, a kitchen is available through another door if you are interested in cooking at the airbnb too. An outdoor daybed and a hammock is also available (the hammock is my favorite and one of the reasons why I booked this place!). That’s mostly it and I was extremely satisfied with my choice of airbnb.
One major problem I found during my stay (to this day I don’t know if it’s my fault but my husband and I could not find where the on/off switch for the main room was). There were light switches for every other light: outside, washroom, kitchen but we couldn’t find where the main switch was! We ended up sleeping the whole night with the lights on which was an experience itself. That’s how big and different the room was.
For the second night we stayed at a smaller room, but it was much cozier. My husband told me later that he liked River View much better than the first room, Summer House. River View boasts a very white theme, white wooden floors, white walls, and it is situated right by a river which can be viewed by opening the windows. The room is smaller which consists of a bed, a table to sit at, one bench and one small corner seat for reading. There is a washroom off to the side and a table outside if you want to eat lunch/dinner over there. We came back at night and the airbnb staff helped us transfer our luggage, and for the first time in my life, I came across a rose-petal filled room with double swans prepared just for us! I was caught by surprise and this was absolutely romantic and such a great surprise. Great job JungleRoom! In the morning, the room received a lot of natural light which was great for photos, every corner of the room was just so photogenic! We could open all the windows and listened to the river off to the side.
My favorite part of the day were breakfasts at Jungleroom; served in their Juice Room or sent to your room. They have a wide variety of choices for breakfast, including avocado toast, fruit granola, gluten-free pancakes. My favorite one was their fruit granola, which included daily fresh fruit, granola and yogurt.
My favorite part again was breakfast! I kept on looking forward to it all day long. I am super excited for breakfast at JungleRoom and I will definitely come back again just to have some of that!
Other tips and suggestions:
- We got around in Canggu on a motorbike rented to us by JungleRoom at 75,000 Rp per day (this is considered very standard, very reasonable price). The quality of the bike was very decent.
- For tips on what to eat in Canggu see my post here (just if you want to explore outside or else I would recommend enjoying a whole day in JungleRoom.
- JungleRoom also provides lunch and dinner, you can go to their Juice Bar for more details.
- The place is a little hard to find but Google Maps was able to locate it correctly and the taxi driver took us right to the door. A taxi from Seminyak to Canggu estimated to be 100,000 Rp via Blue Bird Taxi meter.
Hi, were there a lot of mosquitoes around? Bugs? How thick are the walls? Degree of Cleanliness?
Hi! I stayed in Jungleroom before and I can tell you 100% to expect mosquitoes. I brought a lot of insect repellent for my stay. The walls are quite thin as in you can hear some insects at night. Rooms are clean though. If someone passes by your complex while talking to a friend, you can hear them as well. Other than that, it’s quiet at night.
